like a river to the sea

“I asked not the reason for this grief,
understanding well that it was unknown.
For grief is ever begotten of Time that, flowing,
has not shaped its fruit.
Grief is there for the mere flux of empty days.”

~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Wisdom of the Sands.

I do not know the words to console you, only that it was a great thing to have such wonderful memories of someone you cherished and still probably do. It's also nice to connect with photographs and not just words, sharing them is a comfort in itself. beautiful shots for a rainy day.

Hope you are well.

Thank you for your words. I lost my father several years ago, and miss him more every year.

I wish you comfort and solace, and hope that your road trip was a hidden blessing in the midst of loss.

And also, thank you for the photographs.

I always look forward to your posts, but haven't always commented.

I am so sorry for your loss. This was a beautiful tribute to your uncle.

Sunday marked the anniversary of my mother's death, and I came across your post in the midst of my thoughts and my missing her. It touched me deeply.

Wishing you peace.

Bittersweet becomes the mode of adult life, indeed. I am sorry for your loss, and value these insights.
